What former CEO of Rio Tinto said

💌 THE MARKETING MOMENTUM MAIL

Hey Reader,

Last week's events reinforced that some of the best marketing doesn’t come from a straight-up funnel.

It comes from how we move through a room, share a table, or show up in a moment no one truly planned for. Because I certainly did not plan for these gems to drop!

🍽️ THE TRUFFLE MARKETING EFFECT

Sunday lunch was wholesome. One girlfriend, a bottle of Chablis, and a table spread of freshest produce from the South Melbourne Market on a crisp Melbourne afternoon.

The extravagance is because a stranger named Robert slid into my DM and dropped off a fresh black truffle from Manjimup (Western Australia).

Now is the perfect time to indulge in the Australian earthy gems — the season will end in just a few weeks.

See how many dishes I pimped up from one single truffle - you can do it too!

Tip: Just slide into Robert's DM to order yours @robert_profile

No, this is not advertising. But yes, I am influencing.
Do yourself a favour and get on board the Truffle Effect!

🕯️ PRESENCE > PERFORMANCE

The weekend prior, I led a private charity dinner at the home of John and Barbara Ralph. I was clueless to their legacy until our chats flowed in a very connected and engaging manner upon my arrival.

12 eager diners sat around the dining table, smiling and anticipating the next wise words that John would spill. You see, he's the former CEO of Rio Tinto!!!

And yet — he was remarkably humble. Conversations were filled with humility; every turn of the chair was respectful; every shared glance held synergy.

That’s How PERSONAL BRANDS SHOULD BE:
Presence (And Actions) that speak LOUDER THAN WORDS.

🎤 NEW ENERGY AT MELBOURNE'S ICONIC JAZZ BAR

One evening last week, I headed to Bird’s Basement with my PR girlfriends. I showed up with no expectations other than a great time with my fellow female hustlers — until we were greeted by the gracious owner, who shared the vision of the newly renovated space, followed by a delicious 3-course dinner and drinks!

Then comes the surprise. We saw Lachie Gill live! I've never heard of him (thanks to my years of not watching TV) but omg, I am so glad to have encountered his music. What a brilliant singer-songwriter. He got us singing, swinging and for some, sobbing 😭

His words are just so beautiful:

Feeling something deeply is the fastest way to share something truthfully.

💡 EXCITING SHIFT IN MARKETING

NEWS: Instagram posts are now being indexed by Google.

That means what you write — not just how it looks — is becoming searchable.

Think beyond the feed. Your voice can now rank, linger, and be found in moments that actually matter.

📍Example?
Let’s say you shared a post on how to price your services — and someone Googles “how to price as a creative in Melbourne.”

If your post is clear, strategic and public, it could show up in their search. No ad spend. Nada.

So go forth and lead with intentional words. Share what you stand for, skip the mystery because that is not cool for Mr Google.

Thanks for being here — in the rhythm and the realness.

Keep Showing Up, Reader!

Do not outsource your thinking to AI

Hi [First name], I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately: Writing consistently builds real skill and resonance. Authenticity is the new advantage as AI rises. A few grounded truths I keep coming back to: Don’t outsource your thinking. Use AI to clear your plate, not replace your creativity or intuition. Most people don’t actually want AI‑generated content. Doubling down on you strengthens your brand. 52 reps vs 0 reps Picture two people sending a newsletter every week for a year. Person A...

MFWF Baker's Dozens 2026

Hi [First name], I took one week off from your inbox. And somehow Melbourne packed in a Food and Wine Festival, a rock cabaret and the start of my 3rd new company of 2026 into the gap. I'm blaming Mad March — and the energy of a brand new cohort of strategic marketing students at RMIT who reminded me exactly why I love teaching. Why MFWF sells out in minutes while restaurants fight for bums on seats The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival has concluded and I've been to Taxi Kitchen and Carnitas...
